The 45-mile-long Chemung River runs through Chemung County, providing regional recreation, including: guided paddles, fishing, riverside hikes, cross-country skiing, biking, bird watching, nature photography, and other events and programs coordinated through Friends of the Chemung River Watershed. The river is home to an abundance of wildlife and a variety of birds, including bald eagles and osprey.
